Rental & Sales Team Member
DeKalb, IL
$18.00–$20.00 per hour (Based on Experience)
Midwest Equipment Rental and Sales is a growing, locally owned equipment rental company serving North-Central Illinois. In addition to our core equipment rentals, we’ve recently expanded into party rentals and propane services — and we’re continuing to build. We’re looking for a dependable, detail-oriented team member who wants to grow with the organization as we expand.
This is a hands-on position in a small business environment where your work directly impacts daily operations and customer experience. If you take pride in staying organized, solving problems, and keeping things on track, this could be an excellent long-term opportunity.
What You’ll Do
This role combines front counter sales with rental operations and daily coordination:
- Manage rental check-in and check-out with accuracy.
- Perform basic equipment check-ins and inspections to ensure machines are clean, functional, and ready for the next rental
- Identify obvious wear, damage, or maintenance needs and communicate them to the team
- Process contracts, payments, and customer documentation
- Assist customers with equipment selection, party rentals, and propane transactions
- Maintain scheduling accuracy and organized workflow
- Communicate clearly with customers and team members
- Load and unload equipment as needed
- Assist with light maintenance, cleaning, and general shop organization
Because we are a growing operation, this role requires someone comfortable contributing across multiple areas of the business. Some days are customer-focused and fast-paced; others require behind-the-scenes organization and hands-on work. Both are equally important to our success.
Who We’re Looking For
- Highly organized and detail-oriented
- Self-motivated and proactive
- Comfortable working with minimal supervision
- Mechanically inclined and comfortable inspecting equipment during rental returns
- Able to quickly learn how different types of equipment operate and what to look for during check-in
- Professional and confident communicator
- Adaptable and willing to take initiative
- Interested in long-term growth with a small but expanding company
- Experience in equipment rental, construction, hardware, service, or logistics is preferred but not required for the right candidate.
- Valid U.S. driver’s license required.
Compensation & Benefits
- $18.00–$20.00 per hour based on experience
- Paid Time Off
- 401(k) plan
- Health insurance plan
- Employee rental discount program
- Overtime opportunities during peak seasons
This position is ideal for someone who wants more responsibility than a typical entry-level job and is motivated to grow as the business grows.
If you’re organized, dependable, and ready to contribute to a company that’s expanding its services and raising its standards, we’d like to speak with you.
